Issue 19 january 2021 Special Edition COVID-19 AND THE MICROBIOTA

Quite aside from the opportunity presented, we were compelled to produce a special edition on COVID-19. This pandemic has transformed the medical and scientific literature, and the keyword “microbiota” has made a remarkable entrance. This issue provides the key data to understanding the strong link between the microbiota, immunity and SARSCoV-2. Some microbiological knowledge might satisfy the curious. Data is presented on the interactions between the virus, the microbiota and their consequences on the cardiovascular system, the digestive tract and the respiratory system. The practical aspects are not forgotten in less frequently addressed fields like the perinatal period and paediatrics. This information has led authors to propose the treatment of dysbiosis as an adjuvant therapy for COVID-19.
